Flashback to CCMS and CHS Lunch Room Antics

Go ahead, reach back to the good old days of deciding between sloppy-joe-sh(it), plastic pizza, or the maybemeat they put in the subs. School lunch was so great, wasn't it!?!?! However, thanks to a certain someone, a dear friend of my childhood, we were saved from making that ghastly decision. A culinary masterpiece, the bagel with cream cheese and dorito's chips (preferably Cool Ranch). I don't know how she thought of it, but thank you TLH, thank you so very much.

Yesterday afternoon, I was at a local mini-mart buying some charcoal lighting fluid for a barbecue. I picked up the fluid and when I was paying, I saw a jar of fresh beef jerky (they do that here in PA). However, look at the note attached to the beef jerky jar:

Yankee's Update

Sunday night, April 19 2009:

We are not going to talk about the happenings of the April 18 afternoon game. We are going to talk about how ALL of the work done over the off-season is totally paying off. CC, AJ, Tex, and most surprisingly of all, a certain Nick Swisher has proven to be a diamond in the rough. We are sitting right above .500, and given Wang's three horrendous starts, I am pretty happy with that record. We have a three more home games, the A's are coming to town (homecoming Giambi?) and then we are traveling up I95 to take on our arch nemisis: the Boston Douche Sox. Interesting, Wang is scheduled to start Friday, lets see what happenes.

Regarding Matt Ward's cover of Rave On see below, I submit to you why does indie music have to sound so sad? I love indie music, I really do. And I know that not all indie music is the same, but I quit the sub-genre game a long time ago. This is the original Buddy Holly song "Rave On." Its a wonderful and happy rock and roll song about having awesome times with the person you love. Please, Matt, tell me why so serious :) ???

Although unbeknown to much of the current generation, Buddy Holly is viewed by many as one of the founders of rock and roll. I don't like this version of Rave On. Why must he drag this song on?? However, Zooey has an awesome voice. And you know how I feel about a girl with a good set of pipes. Well here is the vid:

I hate the beard

I think I am going to get rid of it on Sunday the 19th. I will make a video of it and post the butchery. I know I said I was going to grow it for a year. I lied. Sorry. If you can convince me to keep it, I am open to the option. I just don't know how to groom it and it feels like a dead animal on my face.

Claims to be in a band. Rehearsals consist of choosing outfits for next show and drinking PBR. Always on the list. Majors or majored in art, writing, or queer studies. Name-drops. May go by "Penny Lane," "Eleanor Rigby," etc. when drunk. On PBR. Which is usually. I am not a fucking hipster! The Most Storied Franchise in the History of Sports

The New York Yankees opened their 106th season on Monday. I love the Yankees and because of this love, I will be posting a weekly Yankee Update throughout the season. Expect to see stats, photographs, and some opinion on the shape of the season. I will probably make these posts on the weekend, but after such a great game today (Yanks 11-2 victory over Baltimore) I figure its as good of time as any.

It was a pretty miserable start for the Yankees' top aces. Wang and Sebathia both had piss poor performances, and our offense was less than stellar. Everyone seemed to be clicking at the end of spring training. Today though, AJ Burnett had a pretty decent outing and our bats woke up after a two game nap. We won 11-2. 1-2 record as of 4/9/09. I predict 107 wins for the guys, and #27.

Carrie Underwood, I love you.

Ok, so I've had a little thing for Ms.Carrie Underwood since she won American Idol a couple years ago. I think she is one of the most beautiful women in the world. And yes, she is a pretty great singer. I'm not really a modern country music fan, I'm not a big American Idol fan, but seriously, listen to the pipes on this girl. She makes me week in the knees.
