POD: King Coal

In third grade I did a report on the history of coal mining in America. I think I titled it King Coal. Or that is the name of an actual book/documentary/something and is in my head for some reason. Anyway, this is a picture of a freight train near my house that was carrying coal, a whole shit load of coal.

DZP: #44 Get and use a library card

Done and done. I am so happy that the library on Federal Street is finally open! I got my library card this week and checked out The Johnstown Flood, by David McCollough. I have read several of his books; 1776, Adams, The Great Bridge, and Mornings on Horseback. I think that The Johnstown Flood is his first work, but I am not sure. (Unfortunately, the book is not on my list.)

Sand Animation?

This video struck me not only as creative and interesting but very poignant as well. The artist depicts life in Ukraine during the war with Germany in the 40's.

Rest in Peace, Senator Kennedy

Statement from President Obama

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release August 26, 2009

Statement from President Obama:

Michelle and I were heartbroken to learn this morning of the death of
our dear friend, Senator Ted Kennedy.

For five decades, virtually every major piece of legislation to advance
the civil rights, health and economic well being of the American people
bore his name and resulted from his efforts.

I valued his wise counsel in the Senate, where, regardless of the swirl
of events, he always had time for a new colleague. I cherished his
confidence and momentous support in my race for the Presidency. And
even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I've profited
as President from his encouragement and wisdom.

An important chapter in our history has come to an end. Our country has
lost a great leader, who picked up the torch of his fallen brothers and
became the greatest United States Senator of our time.

And the Kennedy family has lost their patriarch, a tower of strength and
support through good times and bad.

Our hearts and prayers go out to them today--to his wonderful wife,
Vicki, his children Ted Jr., Patrick and Kara, his grandchildren and his
extended family.

New Stop-Motion; I'm Still in Love

Julian Plenti - Julian Plenti is....Skyscraper

This is a new album by a relatively new band, Julian Plenti*. This is my favorite song of the record, however the record is fantastic. I enjoy it thoroughly.

*Paul Banks of Interpol

Julian Plenti - Unwind

I see your face and I let you own me
I see your face and I let you unwind
I see your face and I let you own me
I see your face, I won’t let you unwind

I see your face and I let you own me
I see your face and I let you unwind
I see your face and I let you own me
I feel you shake and know a pleasure of my design

I see your face and I let you own me
I can’t replace you, want to give us another try
I see your face and I let you own me
I feel you shake, I won’t let you unwind

See, I’ll make time just for you
I’ll make time for you now
I’ll make time just for you
I’ll make time for you now

I’ll make time just for you
I’ll make time for you now
I’ll make time just for you
I’ll make time

Patience, patience
It’s safer for you now
Patience, patience
It’s safer for you now

I see your face and I let you own me
I see your face and I let you unwind
I see your face and I let you own me
Don’t hesitate to know a pleasure of my design

I see your face and I let you own me
I can’t replace you, want to give us another try
I see your face and I let you own me
I feel you shake, I won’t let you unwind

I Am Home, Fresh POD

Why hello world. I am home from working at ASC, I had an awesome summer. Hope you are all well. I'm happy to see that people are still checking in every so often, and I will be posting tons and tons of super important information and anecdotes and pictures and videos and music and stuff that is just completely irrelevant and no one actually cares about. Also, I'll be updating my Day Zero Project soon. Give me some time!

Yes, I am still very, very ugly.

Cheers.
